New England Patriots’ Playoffs Notes

As stated yesterday along with much esoteric and of greater detail, the Dallas Cowboys will host an NFL quarterfinal game for the 16th time, the 14th time since the AFC/NFC configuration began in 1970, this “slots” weekend.

On Saturday night, the New England Patriots will host a “slots” game for the eleventh time in sixteen seasons, matching the S.F. 49ers (1981-1996). Sixteen is the operative number as N.E. is that big a favorite, (16 points) in their tilt, vs the Houston Texans.

“N.E.” which will play in the Saturday night/second slot for the seventh time in the eight seasons the AFC was involved in such a tilt, the first the famed New England home overtime win in the snow, vs the Oakland Raiders en route to the PATRIOTS first crown (of course it was the PATRIOTS after the events of 9-11-01) after the 2001 season.

New England will play at home in the Saturday night slots game for the sixth time (they are (5-0) in previous such games) and (5-1) overall, having lost at Denver in 2005.

The Bill Belichick coached Patriots, in the ‘offs as division champions for the 14th time in 16 seasons, meaning they would host at least a wild card round game, have hosted only three of those thus yielding this as stated above a record tying 11th home slots game in 16 seasons.

The Patriots went (2-1) in the home wild card round games and (1-1) in the road slots games. “N.E.” is (9-1) in home slots games (their only loss was to the Rex Ryan coached New York Jets in 2010) during this great period of play on their part.

Their only other home slots game was against another franchise then playing in Houston, (the site of this season’s Supe, an entity New England has been established as a 2 to 1 favorite to gain entry and just a 3 to 2 underdog to win, easily being perceived the most likely choice to title), the Oilers.

In an early Sunday tilt, one of the few NFL ‘offs games if not the only one I entirely missed in THOSE DAYS, sojourning however briefly, to the Catskills Mountains, the Oilers with the great Earl Campbell upset the Pats in that tilt.

Alas Belichick’s home slots record all with New England (then not knowing better, now he does, as a truly great, yet as with all of us not infallable, down (17-0) at Pittsburgh in his only other slots game as a head coach, he opted for the gutless choice of field goal (I am sure the “aw shucks” Phil Simms, who seems to take great pleasure in such ridiculous decisions would have approved. Of course, his words endorsing such decisions  would not have come forth when he was a darn good, far from great quarterback, with the “Hack” Giants) in an eventual loss) is (9-1) the same record he had overall in the playoffs before winning and not covering vs the Eagles in the ’04 season Supe, to make that record (10-1)

Of course it is so likely Belichick will get to the same (10-1) mark in home slots tilts (I will tell you now, especially if 5 point favorite Atlanta covers to make the home “faves” (5-0) in the 2016 ‘offs, but even if they no cover or lose the game, I believe “Hous” will cover, albeit in defeat in Poo’s (Jim Nantz) third Saturday night slots tilt in New England.

Since Belichick’s ‘offs record stood at (10-1) yielding comparisons with Vince Lombardi, who had a (9-1) ‘offs record, his “N.E.” team, which had titled in all 3 playoffs appearances under Belichick, (the Green Bay Packers “titled” in the last 5 of their six ‘offs appearances under Vince, whose wife Marie once remarked, while in bed with the famed coach, “God your feet are cold,” to which Mr. Lombardi retorted “it is all right, you can call me Vince), has been “ungodlike,” failing to title in all but one of the 11 subsequent seasons, suffering 9 playoffs defeats.

Certainly as stated often here, this is a great run by New England, perhaps top heavy with early Supe titles and suffering hard luck defeats denying them the crown in all but one subsequent season.

Slots Notes Continue

This time with no editorial comment, here comes, not “that rainy day feeling” but that “of 16” again.

The most significant and most impressive “of 16” a “14 of 16” in sports achievement, goes to the New York Yankees, for their 14 pennants in 16 seasons from (1949-1964).

Some quick managerial notes: Casey Stengel guided the Yankees to an incredible 10 pennants in his 12 seasons as Yankees’ manager from (1949-1960). Ralph Houk went three for three in pennant bids, in his first stint as Yankees’ manager while Yogi Berra went one for one in same (1964).

Only one other manager, Al Lopez, with two different franchises, the (1954) Cleveland Indians, who won 111 games in a 154 game season, but were swept in 4 straight games in the World Series by the New York Giants, and 1959 “Go Go” Chicago White Sox, won a pennant during that 16 year span.

This season, the New England Patriots notched their 14th AFC East title in the last 16 seasons, all with Tom Brady as their quarterback and Bill Belichick as their coach.

Even more impressive, they will host a “slots”/division round home game, earned by being at least the conference’s two seed, they are “one seeds” for the 6th time in the span, for the 11th time in 16 seasons.

The other “of 16,” while a testament to the many playoffs, specifically slots/NFL quarterfinals appearances of the Dallas Cowboys, is one rooted in being a television “ratings” power even more so than being a football “power.”

No matter the result Sunday in their tilt vs the Green Bay Packers in the late Sunday “slots” game this week, the Cowboys will have played 12 of their 16 home slots/NFL quarterfinals games on Sunday.

One non Sunday home “slots”/divisional round tilt was played on a Monday in 1977 when the NFL respected the Christmas holiday and there was no possible Sunday game for Dallas.

The “12 of say 15 possible Sundays” includes NFL quarterfinal games in both 1967 and 1969, the only game in the NFL that day, at a time before the AFC/NFC configuration which began in 1970 and will this weekend, “produce” two slots games, on two different days for the 47th straight season.

Dallas played or will play a home Sunday “slots” game in ’73, ’76, ’79, ’82, ’92-’95, ’07 and 2016. They went (1-1) in ’67 and ’69 and (6-3) in 2 slots games tilts Sundays in this upcoming “slots” or divisional round.

The Cowboys are (4-0) in non Sunday home slots games, winning on Saturday thrice, in ’70 and ’78, en route to Supe losses and also in ’81 before losing at SF in the famed Joe Montana to Dwight Clark and subsequent SF defense, the latter which few if any historians cite, title game.

Dallas won  a Monday tilt vs the Bears and the great Walter Payton, en route to their ’77 crown.

Additionally after Sunday, when again they play the later Sunday “slots” game, Dallas will have played 8 or two thirds of their 12 Sunday home slots game, later than the other tilt that day.

The four exceptions were from (’92-’95) when the powerful West Coast 49ers were involved in those times, when NFL playoff games were not at night.

Thus S.F. also a one or two seed with Dallas all four seasons, (S.F. was the “1” in ’92 and ’94, winning it all and beating Dallas in the NFC title tilt but once, while Dallas won it all not only as the NFC “1” in both ’93 and ’95, beating SF in the NFC Title game in ’93, but also took the crown after having won at S.F. in the ’92 NFC title game/NFL semi-final game) had to play either late Saturday or Sunday.

Of course Dallas which has only played in the early slots Saturday game at home once, that in ’81, played on Sunday, albeit early as mandated by the alternating conference games “mandate” which largely has been upheld in the 47 such seasons.

For the record Dallas is (11-4) at home and (15-10) in NFL quarterfinal games but have lost in their last three. The “ratings darling” Cowboys played in the only Saturday NFL game in 1968 and have played in the worst ratings time, first game of the “slots” weekend but twice, as cited above at home in ’81 and ten years earlier, when after they took a nice lead en route to victory at Minnesota vs a truly good Vikings’ team, my father correctly forecast it finally being “Dallas’ year,” as they went on to win their first NFL crown.

Our “Slots Week” Notes Begin

Forty years ago, Pittsburgh University led by the great Tony Dorsett claimed the mythical national title.

In 2016, “Pitt” handed eventual national champion, Clemson their only loss.

Dorsett played on a Super Bowl winning team, contributing mightily to the 1977 Dallas Cowboys’ title, in his rookie season in the N.F.L.

Ezekiel Elliott led Ohio State University to the national title in college football two years ago, after the 2014 season.

Now a rookie in the N.F.L. with the (you guessed it or knew it) the Dallas Cowboys, Elliott was the biggest reason Dallas gained the NFC one seed, with a stellar (13-3) record.

There is “mucho wood to chop” before a Supe title (odds are 5 to 1 against such an occurrence) but the Cowboys are the top choice to at least make the tilt in Houston Texas. One thing is for sure Dallas will not play any games outside the “Lone Star State” the rest of the way.

The Cowboys seek their first “slots”/divisional round/NFL quarterfinal win since 1995 when they host the Green Bay Packers in the “slot 4,” late Sunday, tilt.

333_inside-display-image

Among the great “notices,” for Tony Dorsett, pictured above, is being chosen by the legendary television character “J.R.” of “Dallas” fame, as his choice of “anyone in the world,” when accessing a new data base, with I believe, all blood types, in a “Dallas” episode.

I am fortunate to have met both Tony and the late, great Larry Hagman (J.R.), each so kind, each having brought treasured memories to so many people.

The “C” Title Run “C”ontinues With “C”lemson

This will be so “C”orny but it is so “c”old sans heat, early in the morning. Once “C”o”C”a “C”ola advertised “things go better with “C”o”C”a “C”ola, things go better with “C”oke. Now I say titles go better or occur with “C” teams.

Currently (no more quotes around the c’s, apologizing for having placed them) three of the five Sports champions, (a sixth the NFL, will crown a new one in less than a month, the defending champion Denver Broncos, how well students know a “D” and a “B’ average to a C grade, having been dethroned) have names beginning with C. (Now when there should be quotes around the C, there are none. Alas a promise is a promise.)

Both major league baseball and the NBA have alliterative named champions with C’s, each of whom ended long title droughts.

The Chicago Cubs won their first World Series in 108 years while the Cleveland Cavaliers, in winning their first NBA crown in what was their 46th season ended a Cleveland sports title drought that had lasted since 1964 (reverse the digits of 64 to get 46) a period of nearly 52 years.

Now Clemson has “titled” for the first time in 35 years, last winning as an underdog after the 1981 season with Don Criqui broadcasting on NBC’s coverage of their Orange Bowl win vs Nebraska.

“Clem” is (2-1) in games for the title, that I can recall, covering the spread as they did in defeat last year vs Alabama in all three.

Alas, the Cowboys and Chiefs, respective NFC one and AFC two seeds, host slots/quarterfinals NFL playoff games this Sunday. Beware the C’s teams?!!

Please “see” your way clear to forgive the recurring quotes.

In “C”hazz Palminteri’s (pictured above) “A Bronx Tale,” both a fine film and now a play on Broadway, (“C”alogero) “C” is getting two educations.”

As I relayed in the previous post, I truly miss Beano “C”ook as I do the fine publicist “C”laire O’Connor.

The relevant quote regarding Claire, is not around a letter in her name, but the one delivered to me, by Mr. Palminteri, saying “Claire was the best.”

Clemson Wins It All

The (14-1) Clemson University Tigers claimed their first college football title in 35 years, (ESPN’s “Around the Horn” host Tony Reali erred in saying “36 years” in relation to what was a “Clem” bid before the tilt yesterday, while the so annoying ESPN.com game highlights narrator also erred saying it had been 34 years since the last Clemson title in her “highlights narration,” after the tilt had been completed,) wish I knew her name), winning a thrilling, (35-31) title game over (I ‘ll say it was!) defending champion and top ranked, six plus point favorite Alabama, whose season also ended with a (14-1) record —11-3 vs the spread, but see what happens when I do not predict vs them—-but alas, no record breaking title for coach Nick Saban.

Instead it was Clemson, specifically their coach Dabo Swinney, a player on the 1992 Alabama title team which oddly denied a Miami of Florida team seeking a 5th title in a slightly longer period of 10 seasons, than the fifth the “Tide” (Alabama) were seeking in nine seasons (’08-‘2016) last night, that was the title game winning coach.

It was a stirring game, culminating with the game’s most valuable player, two time Heisman Trophy finalist, Deshaun Watson throwing a 2 yard touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow, with one second remaining.

Unfortunately for Alabama 10 point teaser bettors/idiots-remember what Beano Cook said about betting teasers, the extra point was both attempted and converted, making “Bama” plus three “plus,” a losing wager. (Remind me to tell you about when an extra point was not attempted, it is not in college pig, when time has expired,  that is not the case in the pros, yielding a very happy result for Beano, whom I miss so, these now 5 college football season conclusions without the most knowledgeable man in the field.)

Alabama led (14-0) with Bo Scarborough, later injured in the third quarter and seeing no further action, an  incredibly important factor, scoring both touchdowns. Clemson then cut Alabama leads to (14-7), (17-14) and (24-21), obviously with touchdowns, the last early in the fourth quarter.

After the teams managed but one first down apiece on the next five possessions, three of them Alabama possessions, the excitement began when Watson and the Tigers drove 88 yards for a touchdown to take the lead on Wayne Gallman’s 1 yard run, with say 4 minutes to play.

On both the go ahead and winning drives, Clemson receivers, especially Mike Williams, earlier a “touchdown maker,” and Jordan Leggett contributed mightily. Watson all but assured the first go ahead touchdown, running right for 16 yards to the “Bama” one yard line.

As great teams do, and though they beat me all season and were denied the title, I both like the “Tide” and yield to few people, in my admiration of them, Alabama responded with freshman quarterback, Jalen Hurts leading the way.

First, Hurts made a great across his body completion to ArDarius Stewart on a 3rd and 16 to set up a successful 4th and 2 conversion run by Damien Harris, before scampering 30 yards for a touchdown, that put Alabama back on top (31-28) with 2 minutes and 8 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

On the national title winning drive, of course led by Mr. Watson (could not work in a “Sherlock Holmes” verb) both Williams and Leggett made big catches and with six seconds to play in the 4th quarter (I “needed” overtime) (THUS) pass interference was ruled vs Bama (not as bad as the same call vs Miami which saved Ohio State in their eventual victory, the play? and victory secured in overtime in the ’02 title tilt broadcast by Keith Jackson) moving the ball from the 9, 7 yards to the 2.

Time for one play and a chance for Clemson to title right there and avoid a pressure, albeit short field goal attempt to tie and send the tilt into overtime.

It took as referenced above, 5 seconds. Hunter Renfrow, caught his second touchdown pass from Mr. Watson, giving Clemson their second title on a day Danny Ford, who coached the other, was selected to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Deshaun Watson pictured above in last year’s uniform when his team covered, but in defeat, and Clemson are #1 this year.

Last year Watson’s peg to Jordan Leggett with 55 seconds remaining covered the spread.

This time a  Watson to Hunter Renfrow touchdown pass with one second remaining, gave Clemson just its second title, first in 35 years, and in so doing denied a great (14-0) Alabama team an eleventh such title and what would have been a fifth under their coach, Nick Saban.

Home, “Chunky,” Faves Went (4-0) (4-0) Ruining My “Soup” But Though Especially G.B. And Pitts Loom, None In My Opinion Will Win Or Even Make The “Supe”

At the end of this brief? post, I will put in quotation marks, more appropriately cite it as my post after all 4 road teams won wild card round games last year as “proof” that Jim Nantz, truly failed to put last year’s 4 wins by the road team in proper perspective, when he cited that fact without stating, three were favorites and none were underdogs.

Nantz did so before 10 to 12 point favorite, Pittsburgh (Steelers) became the third of the four home team favorites, all more than field goal favorites, two averaging over 10 point ‘choices,” to win and rather easily cover the spread in the past two days.

I will also include a link to a post citing that WFAN’s Mike Francesa went (3-1) on his wild card round NFL predictions.

This past Saturday, having listened to Francesa’s predictions for the first time in this his last season on WFAN, I posted them and today credit him for another (3-1) record, in predicting wild card round action.

Below is my post following the wild card round last season, change “road teams” to “HOME TEAM, nice FAVORITES (while in the long run the public with its propensity to bet favorites, (estimates are 70 percent of those foolish enough to bet do so), will ultimately lose, UNDERDOG backers such as me are often “put in their place” on weekends such as the just completed one) and with Francesa again going (3-1), you have the post/story, of what was a crushing wild card weekend.

However, first off, I know my “limits” and have no illusions about “getting it back,” there is still a football fan inside this cynical, beaten, brilliant but not productive brain/person and with the exception of the likely mismatch (N.E. is a 16 point fave vs Houston–watch that game will be competitive—), next weekend’s three other tilts, at least “going in,” truly are to be savored.

Last year’s post wild card weekend post:

The Road teams did even better, (4-0) for the first time.

January 11, 2016

The road teams did even better than Mike Francesa compiling a (4-0) record in one round/weekend of the NFL playoffs for the first time in 71 such weekends.

Perhaps 70 should have been an omen, (a more telling one is that only the Green Bay Packers at most a one point underdog, were not favored), as the 4 game rounds began with the 1970 season.

70 times, (45 times in the divisional round (1970-2014) and 25 times in the wild card round 1990-2014), the road team failed to win all four games.

The road team also failed in 1969 when both the NFL and the AFL, in its last season, each had 2 NFL quarterfinal games as the eventual league winners met in the Super Bowl. Also one year before 1990, 1982 had 8 wild card round games, 4 each on Saturday and Sunday due to a work stoppage/strike. The road team did not win 4 games on either day.

Click below for a link to the above, which includes a picture of Willie “On The Road Again” Nelson.

More Packers/Giants Notes

I can now state with virtual certainty that after today’s wild card round clash, the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants will be the only pair of teams to meet in all four rounds of either major league baseball (there it is almost impossible, though the Cardinals and Brewers, now both in the same entity, for that matter division, have met in half of the requisite 4 required rounds, including the 1982 finals/World Series when of course “Milw” was an American League team) or NFL post-season play.

I doubt there are any such instances in the NBA and know of at least one in the NHL (Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins).

Green Bay “enters” (remember the brilliant bit in the “Sunshine Boys,” regarding the word “enter”) today’s tilt with a (32-21) post-season record while the Giants once (3-11) in NFL “finals”/the old title games that crowned the NFL champion from (1933-1965), (4-13) before the AFC/NFC configuration, having lost two of three unscheduled playoff games for title game entry and just (7-16) after three straight (1-1) post-seasons, all con wild card round wins followed by road, “slots” losses to the eventual Super Bowl winner, are (24-24).

The Giants secured 16 of those 17 wins that raised their horrible post-season record to “break even” en route to 4 Supe titles (incredibly this all-time “value team” has as many as the Packers and Patriots, each of whom the Giants beat on their way to mediocre record Supe crowns in 7 and 11–alas when you are starving Seven Eleven food is great and when despite a mediocre record and needing close, even lucky wins (Roger Craig fumbled, Williams also of “S.F.” did so twice, Walls just did manage to tackle Thurman Thomas, “Toe” Norwood, unfairly castigated just missed and others) and you do “title” (they never did with the great Y.A. Tittle, their best quarterback, certainly it is not Phil Simms or even 2 titles Eli Manning, though the latter is a tremendous clutch performer, while the former (Simms) while a beyond annoying, conservative play calling, analyst, had a great game in the 25th Supe which manifested in the Giants’ first title in 30 years) you win it all and that also is great.

Green Bay once (13-0) in home ‘offs tilts is just (4-5) since that time.

The Giants went (6-0) in winning Supes in ’86 and ’90 as respectively the NFC one and two seeds. They were an astounding (8-0) in winning the above referenced mediocre record titles in ’07 and ’11, a mind blowing (5-0) on the road.

“Never Find”/”Never Learn” Sea Ko’s Detroit Sending The Lions To An NFL Record 9th Straight ‘offs Defeat

The great talent Lou Rawls (once I heard him tell the audience to please be quiet and pay attention and I was so grateful he did so) sang “You’ll Never Find” as the first words of the title of a great song.

In last night’s wild card round game, Thomas Rawls led the way, (161 rushing yards, one touchdown), me “NEVER learning,” re woeful post-season teams such as the Detroit Lions, (1-12 in the ‘offs since scoring 59 to “title” FIFTY NINE years ago) manifesting again, as “Sea” made it 10 straight home ‘offs wins KO-ing all “Det” teasers (including mine, as Beano Cook admonished “only idiots bet teasers” (point(s) taken).

Seattle was but (2-2), (2-1) while in the AFC, when the home win skein (third longest in NFL history, Green Bay 13 to be (13-0), they are only (4-5) since, (0-2) vs the New York Giants whom they host today and New England with 11) began with their (2-0) home record en route to a Supe loss vs Pittsburgh, after the 2005 season.

Subsequently, “Sea” (there is a “Sea” in a new shirt hanging yet I went vs “Sea” and will do so in the earlier Saturday slots game, likely with Burkhardt at Atlanta next week.) went (2-0) at home en route to successive Supe appearances in 2013 and 2014, which they split.

Add three wild card round home wins that preceded “slots” losses before what has been a great run (2012-2016, that the case even if they lose at Atlanta, which they did though covering in a 2012 season “slots” game, to this point Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan’s only playoffs win.) Those above referenced games were in 2006, 2007 and 2010. Add last night, to make it 10.

Theater Review: “What We Wanted”

“What We Wanted,” currently in a limited run, ending January 15th, at Clurman Theatre on Theater Row (410 West 42nd Street) is a compelling play that explores such issues as having too much, abandonment and certainly relationships, always a fertile field.

The drama does so with a talented, appealing cast, all of whom go deep with the characters created in David Harms’ work. Drew Foster is the director.

The cast features Steven Hauck as “Julian,” perhaps homage to Richard Gere’s character in “American Gigolo” who also “loves women.”

Alas this Julian is different but I believe both works tell us much about love, its depth and breadth, 36 years later, thousands of years later, a mystery. Mr. Hauck was truly captivating in his fine performance.

Elizabeth Rich as “Agnes,” the wife among the three lovers, Amy Bodnar as Sally, the third lover “joining” “Agnes” and “Jullian,” Kerry Warren as “Reggie” the daughter of “Sally,” and Brandon Espinoza, adorning a Cleveland Browns’ hat, all turn in compelling, fine performances.

It was great to get out and see “What We Wanted.” I strongly suggest you do the same.

Alabama/Clemson Notes Then I Really Explode Vs Racism, Its Inherent Hypocrisy And Michael Strahan’s Ridiculous Fame And Wealth

On Monday night, after the four wild card round NFL tilts today and tomorrow and before the remaining seven (four slots, two conference title and one Super Bowl) other NFL games, defending national champion, top ranked, six plus point “fave” and this year, the undefeated team, (also a remarkable (11-2) vs the spread in “board” games), Alabama, hopes to complete what would be their coach Nick Saban’s second perfect season, by repeating last year’s college football title game triumph vs Clemson.

“Schtunk” as with the rest, the sadistic, three inheritances, “Bellman,” “Gar,” and the “Henpecked man,” who often, not always needed his wife’s permission to go to the bathroom, likely never to appear again, would mimic Lefty Dreisell’s pronunciation of “Clemmmson,” and call Saban (he did it, not me, yet I repeat it), “Sabano.”

The “by any other name” (is not it truly amazing how much in all the 500 years, is Shakespeare. “To be” of the heartbreak caused my parents and me by associating with those referenced above, “not to be” reading and learning Shakespeare.) applies as Saban, seeking a 6th national title, which with explanation would exceed Paul “Bear” Bryant and a 5th with Alabama, which again with explanation, would tie the legendary Mr. Bryant, is a fantastic college football coach.

Last year, favored, but lower ranked, (13-1) Alabama prevailed, “no covering” Clemson, which entered the tilt (14-0).

This season, Alabama is higher ranked, favored, and (14-0), while Clemson, sans a title since 1981, which is to date, their only one, enters the game with a (13-1) record.

bear_bryant

I believe the certainly flawed (all of us are) Paul “Bear” Bryant pictured above, whose acquaintance I briefly gained, (repeating his “First thing I do in the morning is read the newspaper’s obituary section and if I am not in them, I go on with my day) at the 1977 National Invitational (Basketball) Tournament, was essentially a very good man, in addition to being a great football coach.

Of course not in the same stratosphere as Abraham Lincoln, Mr. Bryant and Mr. Lincoln were similar in that neither, at least initially had evolved to the point of being completely devoid of racial prejudice, to help in their own, largely practical way, help a move toward racial equality.

Certainly a fertile topic and while well done as most such ESPN specials (I think they are called 30 for 30), are, I did not need it to know Sam “Bam” Cunningham and USC routing Bryant and “Bama,” did, as some say, more to integrate the South than the great M.L. King.

Alas, there has never been a truly intelligent, real discussion of race in this country and one reason is that I who know it, feel it, assess it and most of all mourn its lack of real progress– has never been asked to any “panel.”

So go on elect (twice) a black president, oddly with “Bama” in his name, only to have so much of his effort distorted by what occurred, when next this country “voted”

Go ahead ‘commercial” an inter racial couple, after all the bean counters say it sells.

However, consider that if you are a black male, you must endure both the fact it is unlikely you can hail a cab and far worse, although and I have witnessed such, the preceding is pretty shameful, must be in utter fear of uniformed people, supposedly there to “serve and protect.”

When they fail to do so, it is horrible.

What also is shameful, is the utter hypocrisy, “head in the sand” denial regarding race and what people truly think and feel, denied true scrutiny, that has rocked this country downward and as you might expect when you enslave, “three fifths,” segregate, cast as and in undignified “Hollywood roles” and SURPRISE also bad, though not nearly as reprehensible, choose a few so undeserving, to be regaled with ridiculous wealth and fame.

This truly sad recurrence is epitomized in recent times (once it was someone named Simpson) by Michael Strahan, the gaping hole in his teeth (I should talk, as I better get to a dentist, but who can afford one, other than those such as Strahan) a symbol of how far “off” we are in honoring this “what sick, superficial form of idolatry made this person a god,”  who was first given a meaningless sack record in football via a Brett Favre (as Pat Cooper would say sardonically “another bargain”) bogus act and now, because he apparently “skews” so well, been given the keys to the kingdom.

Of course some day, I hope soon, Strahan will fall from his commercial appeal, as Favre did in his bogus fashion.

However, while that might help what I admit to be some level of “demon” in me, it will not and never (a long time) will alleviate this country’s “original sin,” bringing human beings in chains to work as slaves to get out the cash crop.

Imagine what some truly advanced society and/or God thinks of that!!
