A post here about five weeks ago has proven prescient.
Three teams with the number 57 immersed in their history have performed so well.
The (9-1) Eagles have the best record in the NFL, while the (8-2) Vikings are tied with four other teams for the second best record. More relevant they are tied for the second best record in the NFC.
Detroit is certainly in contention with a (6-4) record.

57 “Hut, Hut” Eagles, Lions and Vikings, (Oh) My– Notes

Only the Dallas Cowboys, who were trounced by the NFL best record, (9-1) Philadelphia Eagles, among the 6 teams playing on “Turkey Day,” did not at least cover the spread.
Four won, the Vikings and Lions who clash in the traditional “at Detroit,” holiday tilt, plus the Chargers and Giants, the latter as a 10 point underdog.
New Orleans picked here to win by 3, did so, vs the Washington team, which plays Thursday night, vs the Giants.
The Chargers visit Dallas.

On the exact 39 year anniversary of a famed “fumble game” loss that led to a franchise turnaround, which produced 4 titles, the Giants now (2-8) upset the (6-4) Chiefs.
I picked the Giants to cover.
I hit a margin with a Tom Dempsey reference to “boot,” (pun intended) as the nearly ten point favored, (8-2) Saints took (4-6) Washington by three points on an overtime field goal.
Giants and Saints on overtime field goals, “holy Pete Gogolak,” (we lost Adam West this year), Andybsports.com is (8-2), with two three exact margins, one an exact score, in the last two weeks.

Pete Gogolak about to kick. Write us as to the holder.
The split was gained as USC no covered UCLA. Was the game 50 years ago cited? You do not think I would watch the virtually meaningless tilt to find out?
Today, the Saints will struggle and might well stumble, hosting Washington. I will channel Tom Dempsey and say Saints (23-20), as a near 10 point favorite.
Once, I believe in 1992, with similar circumstances, a beleaguered coach and vs a playoffs bound (certainly heavily favored to do so) K.C. Chiefs team, the New York Giants pulled an upset win.
In ’84, they did top K.C. with a great comeback, I believe (28-27).
Today 10 point favorite, K.C. Chiefs 20 Giants 13.

Tom Dempsey kicking, maybe, likely Joe Scarpatti holding for the attempt.
There was no fun for Rutgers and their ‘supporters” in Indiana, as the latter team (Indiana University), rolled to an easy victory.
One more college football prediction is on tonight’s not so important, not so hot, ABC televised USC/UCLA clash for L.A. bragging rights.
USC a 15 point favorite wins (47-38).

More predictions tomorrow, one involving a team with the same name as Mr. Moore’s character, pictured above. “Roger.”
Oh there are reasons for USC/UCLA on ABC. Today is the exact 50 year anniversary of the national title deciding USC/UCLA clash on November 18, 1967.
Former ABC broadcaster, Orenthal “O.J.” Simpson led USC to a victory and they claimed the mythical title.
Click below to view Simpson’s great run. USC broadcaster, Tom Kelly cited Ron Drake’s big block, I once cited this run, to Simpson, a gracious interviewee, as his greatest moment.
Time ran on, more than 64 yards, now 50 years.

Last night, the Pittsburgh Steelers, at least temporarily, (7-2 New England plays in Mexico City vs the Oakland Raiders Sunday) moved into the lead for the AFC one seed, routing the Tennessee Titans (40-17).
En route to back to back Super Bowl wins after the 1978 and 1979 seasons, the Steelers first routed and then won a much tougher AFC title tilt vs the Titans’ franchise, as they were the Houston Oilers at that time.
Tennessee fell to (6-4) and trails Jacksonville (6-3 and a touchdown plus favorite at winless Cleveland this Sunday) in the AFC South race.

The Steelers also won consecutive titles in 1974 and 1975. The NHL Pittsburgh Penguins have also twice won consecutive titles (’91 and ’92 plus the last two seasons, 2016 and 2017) making Pittsburgh, I am pretty certain the only city to accomplish that stellar feat in major North American sports leagues.
I was three for three in college football predictions as they resurfaced here. That was followed by two of three in the pros with one exact score and another exact margin.
This week in college: thus far this season, Rutgers has played pretty well and has an outstanding (7-3) vs the point spread.
Let’s say they play well again. Eleven point favorite Indiana wins (27-20) vs The Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers did make the basketball “semis” in 1976.
They met (the first two such tilts, both NFC Title games/NFL semi-finals, at a place called “The Met” namely Metropolitan Stadium, in Bloomington, Minnesota) in the NFL ‘offs four times in five seasons, from (’74-78), having stirred memories, that will come into sharper focus when the Rams sojourn to Minnesota, to face the Vikings in a clash between two surprising (7-2) NFC Division leaders, this Sunday.
Sunday’s tilt is far from an ‘offs game but could go a ways in determining playoff participation, division winner(s), and NFC seeding in ascending probabilities.
The Vikings won NFC Title Games at home vs the Rams in both ’74 and ’76 and won a “div” game in the “muck and mire” of the L.A. Coliseum, on a Monday afternoon in ’77.
Los Angeles prevailed at home in the 4th slot/late Sunday “div” game in ’78.
On all four of those occasions, the winner of the Vikings/Rams playoff game lost its subsequent ‘offs game.

Why apple cider pictured above? Tune in for notes on past Supes especially the only one I attended.
Cue Phil Collins as “there is something in the air.”
I was only 2 of 3, but predicted Detroit by 14 points and they won by 14 points.
Additionally and most startling, Jacksonville won (20-17), as I predicted.
“Anti sickness,” no real wins and why in a complete rout, did Fox stay with New Orleans/Buffalo, when they did not have to do so.
If it was a game involving a local team, i.e. now (1-8) “Hack” contractual obligations demand they stay with the game in the local market but they did not have to stay with New Orleans’ rout of Buffalo.
Then Fox had to show “Hack” at S.F.
Enough said!

Not even the above “chump change” but accurate.
