World Series Notes

Somewhat incredibly, the World Series has been clinched by the road team eleven times in the last 12 possibilities and for the last four seasons.

Only Houston’s second crown, clinched at home in 2022, is an exception.

Their first was at L.A. vs the Dodgers in 2017. The Dodgers, who won the 2020 Covid affected title in San Diego, batting last, won their consecutive 2024 and 2025 crowns on the road. They have 9 titles and only in ’63 when Hector Lopez (he caught Vada Pinson’s “loop” to clinch the ’61 title for a great Yankees’ team) grounded out Maury Wills to Bill Skowron (“The Moose” (Skowron) made the last out, the other time a Milwaukee team “titled,” as Ed Mathews fielded his smash and stepped on third for the W.S. ending force play), did they do so, at home.
