Some Final Round, Semis Round Knicks And Spurs Notes

June 13, 2026

After O.G. Anunoby’s tip in basket lifted the Knicks to an unbelievable comeback win in #4 (more a Spurs loss-either/ither and the potato/patatoe thing it is (3-1) Knicks) tonight they bid for a first title in 53 years, hoping to reverse ’99 (the Spurs 5’d them) and repeat ’73 when they 5’d “my still” Lakers, each a road team clincher, in game 5 tonight in San Antonio.(This is the third game all in Texas in which the Knicks with a win could claim the title. In ’94 they lost both #’s 6 and 7 at Houston to the Rockets).

The Spurs, 5 or so point(s) favorites tonight are (5-0) in previous games 5 in the NBA final.

Only me: On a Saturday night in ’76, the Nets, en route to the last ABA title and the last New York area basketball title, 7’d the Spurs in a Nets home game at Nassau Coliseum. That year, fifty years in the rear, the Spurs were semi’d by the ABA champion and the Cavs were semi’d by the eventual NBA champion, the Celtics. One more Knicks win and the Cavs will have been semi’d again by the NBA title winner.

Their factual errors abound. See below.

The Nets won (4-3). The Spurs, not the Nets won game 6. The teams did not alternate wins in games 2 and 3, (Spurs won both) 4 and 5 (Nets won both), did 5 and 6, 6 and 7 and earlier in 1 and 2.

The New York Nets defeated the San Antonio Spurs 4-2 in the 1976 ABA Semifinals.

Series Overview

The 1976 ABA Semifinals pitted the New York Nets against the San Antonio Spurs in a best-of-seven series. The Nets, led by Julius Erving, emerged victorious 4 games to 2, advancing to the ABA Finals where they eventually defeated the Denver Nuggets to win the championship .

Game Results

Game 6: Nets won
The series alternated wins initially, but the Nets secured the final two games to clinch wrong they lost #6, won #7.

Game 1: Nets won

Game 2: Spurs won

Game 3: Nets won wrong, the Spurs won.

Game 4: Spurs won wrong, the Nets won.

Game 5: Nets won

The great 5 time NBA title team member, Tim Duncan, born one day after that Nets’ ABA semis 7th win vs the Spurs, is pictured above.
