NFL Update

November 17, 2017

Last night, the Pittsburgh Steelers, at least temporarily, (7-2 New England plays in Mexico City vs the Oakland Raiders Sunday) moved into the lead for the AFC one seed, routing the Tennessee Titans (40-17).

En route to back to back Super Bowl wins after the 1978 and 1979 seasons, the Steelers first routed and then won a much tougher AFC title tilt vs the Titans’ franchise, as they were the Houston Oilers at that time.

Tennessee fell to (6-4) and trails Jacksonville (6-3 and a touchdown plus favorite at winless Cleveland this Sunday) in the AFC South race.

The Steelers also won consecutive titles in 1974 and 1975. The NHL Pittsburgh Penguins have also twice won consecutive titles (’91 and ’92 plus the last two seasons, 2016 and 2017) making Pittsburgh, I am pretty certain the only city to accomplish that stellar feat in major North American sports leagues.
