Amazing World Series Clinchers, Repeat Results

Directly to it, the last two days, five World Series rematches produced the same winning team on the day of the week it clinched in their past World Series, four manifesting in the same city.

On Sunday, in a battle of current league four seeds and so likely ‘offs teams, somewhat probably as wild card teams, the Yankees repeated Sunday World Series clinching sweep wins, accomplished in both 1932 and 1938 vs the Cubs, the former also at venerable Wrigley Field.

The other three were same day, same city repeats starting Sunday, two days/nights back (the W.S. clincher was also on Sunday night), with the red hot Red Sox repeating their 2018 W.S. clinching win vs the two time champion Dodgers.

Yesterday the Giants repeated their Monday night, 2010 World Series clinching win in a game also in the Lone Star state of Texas vs the Rangers, coincidentally managed by 4 time W.S. winning manager, Bruce Bochy, who guided the 2010 champion Giants as well as the 2012 and 2014 versions. He then managed the lone Texas Rangers title team in 2023.

In the proverbial last but not least, yesterday in a repeat of the World Series clinching game cited in the great writer Phillip Roth’s “The Plot Against America,” that being the St. Louis Cardinals’ 1942 World Series clincher at Yankee Stadium also on a Monday, again the Cards prevailed.
