Watching Classic TV Pilot Episodes on MeTV

May 4, 2020

It was nice to watch a number of series pilots/premieres of classic television shows on MeTV yesterday, albeit edited/chopped up versions.

Included were “The Andy Griffith Show,” the related “Mayberry RFD and Gomer Pyle plus MASH.

I will have notes and comments on those pilots (remember the “big city,” Mt. Pilot on the Andy Griffith Show), in the days ahead.

Today I focus on Frank Sutton, the legendary “Sergeant Carter,” on “Gomer Pyle,” caring toward “Gomer,” in different ways in the pilot and married to and the cousin of women named Toby.

The cousin was Toby Mullner and in remembrance of Toby and Frank Sutton’s excellent work, please click below.

Left to right, two greats from The Andy Griffith Show and beyond, Don Knotts and Jim Nabors, the latter starred in and as “Gomer Pyle.”
