Washington Capitals Won The First Two At Tampa Bay In The NHL “Semis”
There is still a long way to go but it is likely, perhaps very likely, that the Washington Capitals will be in the Stanley Cup/NHL final for just the second time in franchise history. (This will be their 43rd completed season 1975-2018, with no NHL season in 2005).
“Wash” won both games at Tampa Bay vs the significantly favored Lightning and have now won 5 straight road “semis” games (all three at Buffalo to win their only such series in 1998 and these two). They are (5-2) in 7 road semis games, having lost both at Boston in 1990.
The Caps are just (1-4) in previous home “semis” games, having lost both when the Bruins swept them in 1990 and winning just one of three when they 6’d the Sabres to make their only NHL Final, to date in 1998.
