The Cleveland Cavaliers Win Their First NBA Title

June 20, 2016

The Cleveland Cavaliers, in their 46th season, won their first NBA Title beating the Golden State Warriors (93-89) in game 7 of the NBA finals in Oakland.

It also is the first sports title for the city of Cleveland since Dr. Frank Ryan threw 3 touchdown passes to Gary Collins, in the old Browns’ home victory vs the Baltimore Colts in the 1964 NFL Championship game.

LeBron James was named the Finals Series MVP and scored 27 points in game 7.

Meanwhile Kyrie Irving was the star of the decisive tilt, scoring 26 points, including a/the all important “3” point shot that gave Cleveland the lead to stay, breaking a tie with 53 seconds left to play.

Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue did a great job after replacing David Blatt as the head coach. Both the Cavaliers and Pittsburgh Penguins (with Mike Sullivan) “titled” this season under coaches, that were brought in during the season.
