Rock & Roll Man Is A Fantastic Show

Today away from ‘offs notes and the fact on the day after those ‘offs ended, I attended an afternoon performance of Rock & Roll Man, a fantastic show that rightfully gives credit to the long departed (in 1965 at a tragically young age of 43), disc jockey and music pioneer, Alan Freed.

The show features a book by Gary Kupper and in it are performances by really talented singers as the likes of such greats as Little Richard, Chuck Berry and LaVern Baker, among others.

Currently in previews, “Rock & Roll Man” is playing at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

In the coming weeks, more on this great show that I hope to see at least once more.
