Comments on What is Discussed Regarding the NFL Conference Championship Games

January 23, 2015

What determined the results of last week’s NFL conference championship games are being discussed in a disproportionate and foolish manner as usual, by a mass media that is beyond the point of no return.

In the AFC game, whether footballs were properly inflated, or not, had no effect on the outcome, as New England (Patriots) routed the Indianapolis Colts.

Yet it is the tantamount concern of those who determine what is discussed and its priority. Talk of Deflate-Gate is almost non-stop.

In the NFC game, the horrible, beyond conservative coaching of Green Bay’s Mike McCarthy, combined with late game Green Bay collapse/Seattle Seahawks surge led to Seattle, not Green Bay, gaining Super Bowl entry. That should be discussed.

Sadly, only some form of improper bad behavior by one of the players or staff on either the Patriots or Seahawks, the two Super Bowl teams, will knock the ridiculous “footballs” story from the top of the list.

The 24 hour news cycle and its demand just gets worse. I virtually ignore it. Can or will you?!!

First of all, Gerry thanks for your comment. Next, have the allegations been proven? There is much more to this, not the least of which the NFL’s attitude regarding so many bad and slimy things (concussions and gambling among other things).

My biggest objection is to the overwhelming hype that the media perpetuates. As a “low rung” media member, (not in talent but recognition) I have stayed away from hype and try to offer perspective.

As for the Pats, so called “cheating” included they have achieved a great deal, at times they and even Brady and Belichick, each obviously great, get too much credit.

Yet win or lose a week hence, they are in the midst of a near great run aided by what has primarily been a weak division and by a “determined” organization/system that does so much good or bad to try to maintain their lofty position. They know if it is worth it and I finally answer, no cheating is not ok ,but neither is the unbelievable hype regarding this story.

So cheating is ok since it wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the game. You knock the media, but you are part of it and you just wrote something nonsensical.

Pats have a history of bad behavior. Do you believe that their previous cheating incidents didn’t help them prevail in some games?
